last friday i had a scheduled flight to Dumaguete.
i know it was friday the thirteenth,i dont care!
i dont really believe on those things.
i arrived 2 hours before the ETD at NAIA 3, got 9A seat assignment, the 23rd person to check in.
I was so excited,i bought Cinnabons as pasalubong.
around 3pm,10 minutes past the boarding time,
there was an announcement that the flight was cancelled!
i was like - are you f**king kidding me?
one of the things that easily pisses me off is change of plans or last minute cancellations,
especially if im really prepared and excited for the trip.
they shouldve informed us hours before so that we shouldve made other arrangements,
like transferring to the PAL flight going to Dumaguete, which departed minutes after we were informed of the status of our flight.
still,i handled the situation with such grace and poise. (that was a joke!)hehe
all passengers rushed to the ticketing office.
i think we were like 30 pax,is it one of the factors why our flight was cancelled?
- i think so!
the reason why the flight was cancelled - bird strike!
we were given options,
they can rebook us to the next flight which is the next day!
that is totally unacceptable!
i dont want to raise eyebrows but i have to do something,
the past few days, the bitch is back but i want to handle this maturely.
im decided to leave that day and no one and nothing can get in my way!
some of the passengers re-routed to Cebu and there are 4 others who asked to be routed to Bacolod.
i started to evaluate my options.next day flight was definitely a big no!
theres a bus from Bacolod to Dumaguete.
the last bus leaves Bacolod by 7pm,the next flight to Bacolod has an ETA of 6:30 pm.
what the heck! got to take the chance.
i took the route to Bacolod, worried and afraid!
i met new friends, there were five of us who chose to be routed to Bacolod.
luckily, two of my new friends are from Dumaguete city proper.
this means i have company on the bus ride.
we arrived 6:40 pm in Bacolod, we were rushing like the people you are watching on amazing race!
it hurts that I have no time to take some pictures on the airport or the sceneries.
we rented a car and rush to the bus terminal.
though my stay at Bacolod was less than an hour,
i have to say,the place really looks nice!
we arrived at the bus terminal around 7:30 pm.
the bus going to Dumaguete already left.
im losing hope and im already trying to look around for a hotel where i can spend the night at.
luckily, theres a bus leaving at 8:00 pm going to Kalatagan terminal.
they told us that we can reach the bus going to Duamguete from there.
it was a 3-hour bus drive to Kalatagan.
imagine, the bus is full and its non air-conditioned!
(its like the buses youve seen in movies!)
luckily, we were able to transfer to the bus going to Dumaguete.
it took us another 2 hours. still, full-non air-conditioned bus.
when i saw the sign:
"Welcome to Dumaguete"
i was relieved! believe me,it was such an experience!
i was really tired, got the chance to hug batchuy at around 1:30am!
now thats a happy valentines! hehehe
~
the trip also made me realize some things.
i used to work for an online travel agency dealing with flight reservations,
now i understand the frustation due to cancelled flights.
im now officially a real jetsetter!
ive experienced delayed flights, cancelled flights and be routed to a different city.
~
on the bus ride,
another realization sets my mind..
"i was able to do and go through all these things.. and that means...
i really love my partner!"
and when i finally laid eyes on my batchuy,
i hugged batchuy so tight,
the hours lost, the money, the effort was all worth it!
bliss covers the tiredness.
~
and thats the end of the super amazing race! lol
isnt it fun? i really enjoyed it..its a nice experience though!
now i can say, ive been to Bacolod.. accidentally! hehehe
